Building Your Website
How much does it cost?
This is the big question.
My response is “It depends.”
My Service Fee
My average service fee is $10,000 – $15,000 depending on the scope of your project.
Additional Costs
Outside of my service fee, you will have approximately $200 – $4,000 of hard costs.
(It could be more and won’t be less.)
These costs included and are not limited to:
- Domain Purchase ($20 – $30+ per year)
- Hosting Plan ($120 – $1,500 per year)
- Premium Tools & Plugins ($100 – $2,500+ per year)
- Email Service ($100 – $300+ per year)
Total Costs
This is to give a general idea of how much you’ll need to budget for your site.
- On the low side: $12,000
- On the median side: $16,000
- On the high side: $20,000+
In no way is this an estimate for your site.
- Every site proposal gets a customized quote.
- Your total costs could be more or less.
- Let me know your budget upfront and I will work to stay within that budget.
Expectations
Before we start, we’ll have a call to go over all of your goals and set expectations.
Based on your goals… I’ll give you a solid Good Faith Estimate of how long I feel it’s going to take to build your site out.
I work fast and my goal is to get you up and running as fast as possible.
Billing will go as follows:
- Non-Refundable Deposit ($1,500)
- Upon our first Creation Session, you will be billed for 50% of the estimate, minus the deposit.
- Example: If your total estimate is $7,500… you will be billed $3,750 – $1,500
- Once we’re approximately 75% of the way through building your site, you will be billed for the remaining amount of your estimate.
- When we’re finished with your site, if there are any hours above your estimate, then you’ll be billed for the remaining hours.
What you can do to help the process go faster and cost you less.
- Anything you can do ahead of time will help us not only complete your site faster, but it’ll also help save you money. That said, we can do everything from start to finish during our time together.
- Things to think about creating ahead of time:
- Logo
- A headshot of you…1200px by 1200px.
- Images to use on your blog 1200px by 1200px is recommended. (I highly recommend you take your own photos and create your own images and do not use stock images… especially don’t use “free” stock images.)
- Create the copy for at the very least, your 1st blog post.
- If you have 16 blog posts ready to go, even better.
- Create the copy for your “About You” section.
- I will give you a format to follow.
- Things to think about creating ahead of time:
Refund Policy
I do not offer any type of refund for this service.
You are billed for all of the time we are connected.
For example (and not limited to); sometimes I have to research things, not limited to code. You are billed for that time.
Regardless, my goal is to get you up and running as fast as possible while making sure you have a complete understanding of what I’m doing.
Free Strategy Session
Before we work together to build your site, we have to have a detailed conversation. Therefore I’m going to give you 2 free (no obligation) video consultations.
Expect us to speak for 30 – 60 minutes, give or take, on each consultation.
During the 1st Consultation:
- We will discuss what you would like to accomplish.
- We will discuss your budget.
- We will discuss what I can do for you.
- We will see if we’re going to be a good fit to work together.
- I will give you an estimate of what creating your website will cost.
- If we agree to move forward, I will collect a deposit from you for my services.
During the 2nd Consultation:
- We will set expectations.
- We will discuss what you need to accomplish before we start your project.
- We will create a production schedule for our video calls to create your site.
The most important thing to me is that we both are excited to create your blog together and that we have realistic expectations for what we’re going to be able to accomplish.
